What do YOU do???

Most days I am a much better "housekeeper" than I am a mother. Doing dishes, cleaning messes, folding laundry...I got that down.
Relating with my boys, having fun, playing, connecting with their hearts...
somedays I think I miss it!!!
I want the exact opposite...
well, to be perfectly honest (not realistic, but honest)-
I want both!
So, what do you do? When it comes to the end of the day, what did it look like? Did you connect with your kids...and let the dishes sit? Are you able to get everything done? How? If not, what do you "let go"?
I know we're not perfect, but some mom's have a good grasp on motherhood and somedays you know... "that" day, you made the right choices.
So, please SHARE.

I am in this same boat. I want to connect with my boy's heart and teach him and laugh with him and help him learn. But I also want a clean house and to feel like my "list" is done at the end of the day!

I read a blog (owlhaven.net) of a woman who, awhile back, did something called "15 minutes better". (You can see my posts on it if you go to my blog, then scroll on the right sidebar to "memes I participate in" and click on 15 Minutes Better.)

Basically you portion 15 minutes out of your day to *consciously* connect with your family in a meaningful way. Start small. You could choose to do 15 minutes for each kid or 15 minutes all together - whatever works for you.

I found that it really helped me to purposely spend this quality time with Jordan and he totally blossomed from it.

It's a blancing act! :)

I agree...it's a balancing act. But if you're a box-checker/accomplisher, maybe it would work to set a timer (literally). Make it a "task" to sit back and just enjoy and play with your kids for a time--20 minutes, or whatever. Do it every day. That's an idea I had while falling asleep last night...I wrote it down and am going to start trying it out this week. 30 minutes a day, just for the kids, no phone calls or housework. I'm hoping it lifts us all! God bless you in your efforts to be a great mother. I'm SURE you're better than you believe. Your boys are so blessed.

I work with your sister, Leah, and I was snooping on your Blog (hope you don't mind!). I saw this quote on another Blog and I love it:

"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow ~ For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow ~ So quiet down cobwebs, Dust go to sleep I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep." ~Anonymous

It helps to remind me of what is most important. Yes, I would like for my house to always be clean, but I would like Caden growing up remembering that I spent time with him even more.
